I found pictures on the internet showing the hotel a few years ago and clearly an incredible amount of work has been done. The hotel itself has had a wonderful make-over that any afternoon TV show would be proud of, and all the furniture appears to have been replaced and upgraded, too.
The hotel's a quick 35 minute journey from the airport where we had no delays at passport control, etc. Check-in at the hotel was reasonably swift and we were shown to our already made-up room at around Best to bring some different denomination notes to change up for Tunisian dinar at reception, the rate is fixed anyway and they'll change as little or as much as you need 24hrs a day.
We bought our exit visa stamps from reception on our last night so that we could judge exactly how much extra to change up to ensure little left over. The room was fine, with rattan furniture on the patio. The bathroom was OK, too, but apparently they will all be re-tiled with walk-in showers over the coming winter break. At present they have baths with continually available hot water. The wi-fi in the room was fast enough for First of all, great kudos to the management for re-modelling this hotel recently.
The wi-fi in the room was fast enough for Skype or whatever. Our Virgin Media Smartcall app worked well on the wi-fi so we could phone home for free. The room doors have modern electronic access control so we didn't worry about a safe, just keeping our passports etc. We liked the food, particularly as it was always piping hot, preferring the main restaurant for most meals.
However the pool bar did serve lighter alternatives at lunchtime - my preference was the Lebanese Chicken Wrap. Tunisian options were available every night from a special counter.
